Equity, Green Space, & the Beerline Trail!
The Beerline Trail Neighborhood Development Project invites you to attend "Equity, Green Space, and the Beerline Trail". This is part one of a three-part series celebrating the Beerline Trail. It will be hosted as a Zoom webinar from 11:30am - 1:00pm on Tuesday, January 19. Featuring keynote speaker Carol Coletta, this event will showcase how creating equitable community spaces increases the prosperity of communities.
Following Carol's presentation, a panel of local leaders and creative placemaking experts will discuss equity and the importance of creating equitable spaces within communities. Panelists include Mayor Tom Barrett, County Executive David Crowley, Riverworks' Executive Director Darryl Johnson, and Wisconsin DOT Secretary Craig Thompson.

Free, Confidential Help is Here for You
A Financial Navigator will ask you a series of questions. Together you will prioritize concerns and identify next steps. The free session will last between 30 minutes and an hour. Navigators can help you address concerns including: meeting daily living expenses, maximizing income, managing debt, avoiding predatory scams, budgeting for the future and accessing other social services.

VITA is Back!
Riverworks offers free tax preparation through the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program for individuals with household incomes of $56,000 or less. Due to COVID-19, taxes will be prepared remotely through our drop-off services or our secure tax website. Keep an eye out for our launch of the program and sign up for an appointment to get professional help with filing your taxes at no cost to you!

Team Member Highlight
Clarissa is the Community Asset Development Specialist at Riverworks. She works in our Neighborhood Development department and helps to coordinate the Harambee NID. Clarissa engages residents and connects them to resources - in both English and Spanish - particularly surrounding issues of housing and homeownership. In collaboration with Rebuilding Our Neighborhood (RON), Clarissa just completed the 2020 Fall Housing Surveys to determine critical repairs needed by residents in Harambee.
