Your gift helps residents and businesses to thrive in Harambee & Riverwest
Riverworks strives to respond to the evolving needs and changes in the Harambee and Riverwest communities— the 53212 zip code — as well as provide visionary, catalytic leadership to move us forward together, connecting our neighborhoods to city, regional and national resources and networks that will enable us to achieve our potential. As you know, this was a challenging year in many regards due to the pandemic and ongoing racial inequities disproportionately affecting our community. More than ever, Riverworks has been an anchor for our community during these difficult times. We responded quickly to the urgent needs of our residents. Our programs help:
Residents stabilize personal finances and increase wealth. This year, the Financial Clinic served over 700 clients many with urgent needs caused by the pandemic and job loss.
Families stay safely in their homes. Riverworks helped families apply for mortgage and rent deferral and energy assistance, as well as home repair loans.
Businesses pivot and grow. Riverworks helped businesses stay connected to resources and opportunities through direct support and a new Business Relief webpage https://www.riverworksmke.org/business-relief
Neighbors connect and improve their own community. Using safe protocols, Riverworks engaged small groups of residents through clean up and beautification projects, tot lot improvements, farmers markets, music concerts and health programs, while connecting to more than 20,000 viewers through social media.
Your support (formerly “membership”) helps Riverworks to provide financial coaching, improve our neighborhoods, retain businesses and create jobs in the Riverworks area. Any individual, organization, or company can join our effort to strengthen our community! To give, please click the Support Us button below. More important than ever before, your gift will help all of us move forward together. Respectfully, Darryl Johnson p.s. I’ve linked two recent press releases along with our 2019 Annual Report. The first press release details our new partnership with the City of Milwaukee to help people navigate financial hardship city-wide, and the second is a recent recognition of Riverworks from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation.
