Upcoming Events - July 2020

Riverworks Upcoming Events

See what we have in the works!

There is a lot happening around us right now, and we hope that everyone is safe! We just wanted to give you a quick update about a few things to keep an eye out for in our neighborhoods.

Yoga on the Beerline Trail

Today, July 7th, we are excited to help bring another event in the Health Matters series. Join us for Yoga on the Beerline Trail with Jozi Tatham of Siddhi Yoga Studio. She will take you through a series of relaxing stretches for the mind, body and soul. Learn More...

Drive Thru Job Fair

Your safety is of utmost importance, but we recognize the need for assistance in seeking employment during these trying times. Next Wednesday, July 15th, there will be a Drive Thru Job Fair event from 12:00-4:00 pm. Riverworks teamed up with the State of WI Department of Workforce Development, the Job Center of WI, Employ Milwaukee, the City of Milwaukee, and other organizations to help put this event together. There will be two locations - one on the South Side, and one on the North Side.

Riverwest Market

Now in its 6th week, the Riverwest Farmer's Market (sometimes known as the Gardener's Market) is going strong. Due to COVID-19, the location moved from Garden Park on Locus to 2700 N Pierce Street between Center and Hadley. The market takes place every Sunday from 10 am - 3 pm through the end of October. There are several produce vendors, both organic and conventional, flowers, meats/eggs, bakery, honey and body products, prepared foods to be taken home, and more! Check out some featured vendors: Chillwaukee Scales Family Farm The Ladle Lady Village Farmstead Please visit us on Facebook or on our website for more information.

Team Member Highlight

Meet Ruth, the Community Engagement Coordinator at Riverworks. Ruth has been living in Riverwest for 22 years and has been organizing in the community for at least 15 of those years. In 2015, Ruth was brought on to the Riverworks team to do neighborhood association work, event planning, candidate forums, and so forth. Back in February, Ruth was brought back on in a full-time role. Some events that she has been focusing on may sound familiar: The Riverwest Market, 53212 Town Hall Meetings, neighborhood clean ups, and (when we are not restricted by COVID-19) Center Street Daze and the 4th of July Firework Celebration at Gordon Park. She also connects residents to resources including financial, housing, and safety resources. Ruth has an 11 year old son and a wonderful dog named Fluffy!
