Celebrating the Legacy of Edward Bryant
With heavy hearts, we want to let you know that Riverworks has lost a great champion for the community and a dear friend. Edward Bryant served tirelessly on Riverworks' Board of Directors for eight years. Edward was constantly pushing us forward and finding new ways to leverage resources to our community.
As the chair of the Real Estate Committee, he shepherded the Riverworks City Center Project which was essential to growing our own programs, and providing essential commercial services to the community. He was also an early driving force behind a new housing development project called “Riverworks Lofts II” which is aimed at providing quality rental housing in Harambee, and, most recently, The Connector Building Project along the Beerline Trail.
Edward’s last volunteer community event with Riverworks was on Saturday, October 11, 2020; Riverworks’ 1st Drive-Through Community Resource Fair. Riverworks provided their clients with a box of food, a packet of employment resources, on-site voter and census registration, a packet of mental health resources, a swag bag full of goodies and provide individuals and family financial assistance in the amount of $50 per car; the resource fair serviced 190 cars.
His thoughts were always on the community, innovation, entrepreneurship, and how to increase opportunity and economic power for black and brown people. He was also a kind, generous, very open-minded colleague and friend.
COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on our community and has taken too many too early. Please join us in honoring the legacy of Edward Bryant with your thoughts and prayers and rejoice in his extraordinary legacy within our community.
