  1.  How will the STimulus payment affect my 2020 taxes?

2. What if I haven't filed taxes in 2019 yet?   Should I just file like normal by July 15?

3. How do I get the stimulus if I haven't filed in a while?

If you were required to file, you would need to file your taxes.  If your income was under $56,000 our VITA Team can assist you with filing your taxes for FREE.    

 

 4.  How do I get the stimulus if I wasn’t required to file?

  • You did not file a 2018 or 2019 federal income tax return because your gross income was under $12,200 ($24,400 for married couples). This includes people who had no income. Or

  • You weren’t required to file a 2018 or 2019 federal income tax return for other reasons

5. What if the IRS website isn't working for me to enter my data as I am a non-filer?

7.  I'm struggling to pay rent and worried I will be evicted, are there any resources to help?

Governor Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Administration (DOA) are partnering with members of the Wisconsin Community Action Program Association to assist renters when they need it most.

ABOUT THE FINANCIAL CLINIC
The Financial Clinic is open to all Milwaukee residents with special emphasis on Riverworks surrounding neighborhoods (Harambee and Riverwest).

In 2019, the Financial Clinic achieved the following outcomes:

  • 33% of clients increased their credit scores or net worth in one year

  • 25% of clients were pre-approved to purchase a home

  • 25 families went from “unbanked” to enter into relationships with financial institutions and open a checking or savings account and/or consolidate debt.  

  • Over 600 tax returns were filed

  • 10 individuals were approved for business credit with a qualified financial institution

  • And over 30 families received assistance with home repair resources.
