Selected Highlights

Job Creation

Created more than 600 jobs in the Riverworks Center area with the opening of the Wal-Mart store (now located on former AMC/Chrysler property) and other retail businesses as well as the expansion of industrial businesses in the area.

AMC/Chrysler Property Acquisition

RDC in partnership with Wispark Corporation purchased the 33 acre former AMC/Chrysler’s properties and has sold all 33 acres, creating over 600 new jobs and retaining hundreds of existing jobs in the area.

Capitol Drive Streetscape

Planned and completed the $1.2 million Capitol Drive Streetscape project that widened the street, removed curb cuts and added more landscaping, lighting and pedestrian friendly areas along the walkways.

Riverworks Commons Shopping Center

Completed construction on a new 21,000 square foot retail shopping center on a vacant parcel of property located near Richards Street and Capital Drive - "Riverworks Commons Shopping Center" at 3901 North Richards Street. List of stores: DOTS, Subway, Game Stop and Shoe Time.

Employment Training

Expanding RDC training opportunities have resulted in more than 225 people receiving employment training during 2003 to 2006.

Wal-Mart

First urban Wal-Mart in the State of Wisconsin is now located on former AMC/Chrysler property at 401 East Capitol Drive.

Goodwill

RDC sold last parcel of land to Goodwill. Closer to the heart of the city, creates new jobs and improves the overall appearance of the area.
