Financial Opportunity Center

The Financial Opportunity Center (FOC) is a career and personal financial services center that provides education and coaching to individuals and families that are struggling to save money and progress financially. These services are available to anyone open to expanding their employment and financial opportunities.

The FOC bundles three core services:

  • Financial Coaching: Lynette Jarreau (Financial Coach) assists individuals and families through peer group seminars and private, confidential coaching sessions to share and learn positive financial behaviors.
  • Workforce Development: In addition to being the Director of the Financial Opportunity Center, Vanessa White oversees the RDC goal to help Milwaukee residents advance their careers through training and employment opportunities.
  • Public Benefits Coaching: Sabina Wilsey (Benefits Coach) helps improve access and knowledge of public benefits and work supports available to both the unemployed and under-employed. She assists with BadgerCare, the Family Planning Waiver, FoodShare and Wisconsin Shares (child care), in addition to other programs. For more detail on these programs and how to schedule an appointment with Sabina, click here. You can also access more information on these and other programs by visiting the Wisconsin Department of Health Services website by clicking here.

This year the Financial Opportunity Center was named a Finalist for the 2011 PNC Trail Blazer award for the outstanding work they do in the community. The award is put on by LISC Milwaukee and is one of five MANDI (Milwaukee Awards for Neighborhood Development Innovation) awards given out each year. Click here to check out our MANDI nomination video that was presented at the 12th anual MANDI awards on March 30th at the Pfister Hotel.

Please contact Lynette or Sabina for information on how the FOC can assist you, your family, and/or your business. They can be reached by phone at 414-906-9650 or by email at lynettej@riverworksmke.org or sabinaw@riverworksmke.org.
