The Riverworks area
has greatly improved since the aftermath of the American Motors Corporation plant closing in the late 1980s. Much of this can be attributed to the focused efforts of Riverworks Development Corporation (formerly called NMIDC). Through our involvement in the purchase of the former 33.5 acre AMC site and focus on job creation, we played a leading role in revitalizing the industrial park. Today in addition to strong industry the Riverworks Center has a wide and diverse range of businesses offering unique products and services here in Milwaukee and across the globe. We continue to lead the redevelopment efforts in the Riverworks Center through our Real Estate and Business & Economic Development programs, assisting existing businesses and incentivizing others to relocate.
We positively impact the residential community as well, bridging the gap between job seekers and employers through job training and placement services. Jobs created through our assistance help stablize the community as a whole, as do the services we provide through the Center for Family Prosperity and our partnerships with the Community Prosecution Unit and City of Milwaukee. Still, there is a lot of challenging work ahead of us, and the need for our programs and services is as strong as ever.
We sincerely thank everybody that has invested time and resources in our organization over the years. As we move forward with our mission to increase community prosperity, we are especially grafteful to our partners who are paving the way for the next
stage in RDC’s work with the community. Our thanks and appreciation go out to the following entities for their generous support:
