District 5 Community Prosecution

In early spring 2009 RDC began staffing the Milwaukee Police District 5 Community Prosecution Assistant, resulting in an exciting new collaboration between RDC, the District Attorney's Office, and the Milwaukee Police Department. Today we are better connected to the surrounding neighborhoods than we were before, we are able to access data related to the Riverworks Center area more efficiently, and because the Community Prosecution Assistant works with RDC staff and District 5 Police on a daily basis, we are able to respond to crime-related issues in the Riverworks Center area more effectively as well. The Community Prosecution Unit also makes a concerted effort to deal with drug houses and nuisance properties, and it provides resources to help minor offenders and ex-offenders get their lives on track. All of these efforts help to improve the quality of life in District 5 and the Riverworks area.

The District 5 Community Prosecution Assistant working with us is Kecia Turner. She serves as the liaison between the District Attorney's Office and the Milwaukee Police Department, and her work is crucial to the success of Milwaukee's Community Prosecution program. She also works to educate and empower District 5 residents and is a case manager/mentor for inmates recently released from prison. For more information on this program, please contact Kecia Turner at keciat@riverworksmke.org or by phone at 414-906-9650.
